About My Work In the Makeup Industry and What My Blog Is!

Hey Everyone!!!!!!,

My name is Megan, I am a 25 year old mother of two. I have a passion for fashion and looking beautiful. I am a huge nut and major goof ball!!! Being that I am now an adult I find with kids, bills and life living the good life is more and more difficult. I have found through trial and error many ways TO SAVE $$$$, yet still be able to look an feel like you spent frivolous amounts of time and $$$$ to achieve the look you did.

I have been in the cosmetic industry for almost 8 years, I got my start in artistry working at the Clinique counter at the local Hecht's, (before they all closed and became Macy's), trying to convince people walking by why they should trust me to apply their make-up. I then worked for Estee Lauder, Lancome, Benefit Cosmetics as the Regional Travelling Artist for the Eastern Shore, M.A.C., and then I got out on my own and still do Freelance work! Yet, even more stressful after I got them into my chair to prove to them just why they sat down in the first place, whether it was a 5 minute smoky eye lesson, to a 2 hour concealer to eye shadow, lips and cheeks finishing touches a-z tutorial, that every client left with a new found sense of beauty and love for makeup. My personal goal was to get every woman to have some appreciation for MAKEUP and the art form behind it, from the woman who never wears makeup and was feeling frisky! (Face it truth of the matter we all knows 2 hours of makeup application to achieve perfection is ridiculous, we are women who like makeup but don't have the time or patience to go through the A-Z routine daily!) Or the Fashionably Savvy woman who just learned a new sacred beauty trick to add to their arsenal of 2 hour primp and prep daily, from their time with me.

I found that at a young age, I had a gift for spotting colors and trends, as well as making customized looks that can take any woman and accentuate the natural features they have to bring out their true beauty with a few simple steps. It became my quest in life to make sure I made every woman who sat in my chair, or came to me for private hair and makeup services that I made them feel more beautiful than they ever had in their life. To make each woman see the true way to get their true INNER BEAUTY but even more to get it to visibly shine from the inside OUT. I made it my personal mission statement to make sure every client leaving after my services loved the way they loved, got affordable products for whatever their budget may be, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY THAT THEY WERE ABLE TO REPLICATE THE EXACT LOOK THEY LEFT ME WITH ONE THEIR OWN!!!!!!  Many times I found myself going to get my makeup done, or my hair cut and styled and GOD it was gorgeous leaving the Salon or Spa, but the minute I had to take the tools I purchased and recreate the same look it came out NOTHING LIKE WHAT IT WAS WHEN I GOT IT DONE! I am a firm believer you can own all the products and tools, high end couture makeup, brushes and trendy items but if you have no idea how to use it your just wasting your money.

Literally on a daily basis on errands with my children, to lunch with my Mother, to date nights out I have at least one typically 3-4 people ask me what makeup I use. Or "how do you get your makeup to look like that its (insert your own word that means beautiful)!" I tell them the spiel how I was a makeup artist and yata, yata, yata. Then they say they understand now, that I can do it being I was in the artistry field. Sometimes they ask what products I use, and typically I will say so off brand drug store cheap brand, at which point they say "Well, ALL I USE IS M.A.C.!" (This is what all the rich, and snotty Northern Virginia people like to do, they love to name drop brand names. To me an eye shadow that you pay $15 each for, when I use a palette of 4 colors for $1.00 and people think its the same as M.A.C., when the same colors would cost me $60.00 at M.A.C. for all 4 is insane...... That is PRACTICALLY THE SAME 4 colors for $60.00, which I pay $1.00 total for all 4, that is a 600% savings and people ask me regularly if I am wearing M.A.C.!!!!! Makes sense to me to pocket that extra $59.00, and take my kids out and spoil them, or if the kids aren't behaving buy myself a new outfit!!)

Typically, I'll follow that with saying how I worked for M.A.C.! That truly there products are in no way worth the money, your buying a brand not the quality of the product. (Personally, I will probably have people who won't want to read any further, since I just said M.A.C. is a rip off, and I understand I just insulted your opinion of THE MECCA of all products. Its just when you can get the same pigment as M.A.C. or any Sephora Personally, I am a huge endorser of E.L.F.'s brand make up. I find I get the same if not MORE RIDICULOUS AMOUNTS OF COMPLIMENTS on the COLORS AND SHADES of E.L.F.'s products, but that also the people are blown away it's the Target $1-$3 dollar line of products.

Below are all hair and make-up before and afters from my portfolio that I have personally done. (Yes! Believe it or not these are all bargain brands no top shelf makeup or hair products/ color used!)
